Theory Behind Magic - Minga Wong

Theories and Magic

'I told him that there was always freedom, even the ultimate freedom. The freedom to leave. You don't have to stay anywhere forever.' - Lucifer
'The Kindly Ones'

This will be the last installment of 'The Theory Behind Magic' series.

After 3 years of writing and who knows how many articles, I have finally decided to call it quits. Sure, I still play in the occasional draft and win boxes at pre-releases but I am finding it more and more difficult to find time to write and play Magic with work and other social commitments. With my decreased exposure to the game, I am also out of ideas on what I can write about. If I really want I can probably still come up with some mediocre stuff like posting a random deck list or do a card-by-card limited review (just kidding Dan) but it is my belief that if a person has nothing interesting to say, they should simply keep their mouth shut. After all, who wants waste their time reading an article about how to tap Islands properly?

As my articles were updated at a monthly and sometimes weekly basis they have become something akin to a journal for me. There were good times and there were bad times but no matter where I was or what I was doing, it appears that I can ALWAYS find something to bitch and complain about. In fact, being sarcastic and insulting has pretty much been the trademark of my articles and I have probably said certain things about certain people that I shouldn't have said throughout the years. So in this last installment of 'Theory Behind Magic' I would like to apologize to every card, Internet writer, WotC employee, editor, website, friend, reader, Magic player and so forth that I have offended in my numerous articles. As my boss told me at work the other day, 'You are a funny person Minga but you do have a wicked sense of humor that can get you into trouble sometimes'.

Even though MtG Paradise readers are scandalously lazy in making any sort of replies yet in those times that they do, I can't help but to feel a bit of pride to know that someone appreciates what I wrote. The occasional 'hey are you that guy who writes on MtG Paradise?' comments I get from tournaments are also great pick me ups and readers who actually bothered to send an email reply (funny enough, most of them are from other countries) is the reason why I have continued to write for so long.

Finally I would like to thank my editors through out the years since my writing would be rather illegible without them. Rebecca Mitchell in particular has done a splendid job and I would have got her to edit my thesis if she had consented to it even though she was below the age of consenting anything at the time. Our Webmaster Yaro is ok too I guess but he is more of a spiritual background person and seems have difficulties in putting my articles online on time (he's right, sorry Minga :-| - Webmaster). Though I haven't had much contact with the forum moderators they were burdened with the crucial task of slapping 15 year olds around and make sure no one slanders my articles publicly and for that I thank you. Fellow columnists like Scott Hunstad, Dan Turner and other freelancers were all great sources for amusement and inspiration and hopefully they can fill my absence at MtG Paradise. Not that I think it will be likely since I AM the #1 writer on this site. ;)

Or was.

And that's all folks

Signing in for the last time
Minga
